“In November of 2014, our Mom, a technology savvy, incredibly talented quilter, completely independent octogenarian, had a massive stroke which left her unable to speak and with limited mobility. We were lucky to be referred to The View at Pine Ridge as the first building was opening. Mom’s care was fabulous and the staff helped our family, who were unfamiliar with the world of assisted living, adjust to our “new normal”.

During the year Mom spent at “The View” she made friends, was engaged and had wonderful caregivers that made sure to turn on her beloved Brewers and The Bachelor! Unfortunately, the distance between Waukesha and Oconomowoc became too far for our Dad to visit Mom on a regular basis, so we moved Mom to Waukesha, and experienced the complete opposite type of care from that of “The View”. The new place was beautiful, but the nursing care and staff, who had promised us so much, were terrible – it was the longest three months any of us have ever lived through.

So, we moved Mom again. When Dad passed away, it made perfect sense to move Mom back to The View at Pine Ridge, where of the three communities she had lived at, she by far received the best care.

During the time we were away, building two was completed. The dear friend that Mom had made during her previous stay at “The View” was still living in building one and without us even asking, the director cleared the obstacles for Mom’s friend to move to building two and be reunited with Mom.

Mom has been at “The View” for three months now and it has been the happiest three months for all of us since 2014!”

“The View at Pine Ridge has been my home for three years! I am very happy here and with the extended family that I have acquired. I look at the word “VIEW”, as V is vibrant; I is interesting; E is good enrichment programs, and W for well-being.

“The View” has afforded me many activities that one cannot do as a single person in their own home. I participate in exercise programs including Tai Chi, and I’m 92! I have always loved art and I have the opportunity to paint and do other projects. We have trivia to keep our minds active and have monthly travel programs to learn about other countries and their customs.

My eye sight is diminished but because of the size of “The View” and ease of getting around, I feel comfortable here. The staff know everyone and the always say hello and tell me who they are as I cannot see their faces clearly. They are caring and know everyone’s needs. The atmosphere here is more like a home. As an older person, it is always difficult to transition from your personal home to a new community but “The View” makes that transition happen smoothly.

“The View is very family friendly. There are great places here to gather as a family, have a cookout, sit in the flower garden or living area.

My daughter Karen says, “I am very happy to have my mother in a safe and caring environment, a place where she can socialize easily and continue to thrive!”
